I know there's a lot of bands that like to say that these days, but these guys really aren't afraid of the raw truth. With a vibrant live performance and dirty dance music, they're certainly an act that'll catch your eye. Recently we spoke with the voice behind the madness, Zoog Von Rock.
LJ DeWitt: For our readers unfamiliar with you, please introduce yourselves and to keep it interesting, give us a random fact about yourself. Zoog Von Rock: Angelspit has been around since 2003. We released our 6th studio album in 2016, and are currently working on album number 7. We've toured the USA, Canada, Europe and Australia quite a few times. LJ: Your new album Cult of Fake has been out for awhile now. What song off the record has been your favorite to perform, or in general what song have you been the most personally invested in? Zoog: "Thanks For Your Cooperation" is the opening track on Cult Of Fake - it’s so much fun to perform live! LJ: Is there any songs that you would consider the black sheep of the record? If so, why? Zoog: "My Little Blade" is the last track and it's typical of Angelspit's older style - dark, driving, experimental, dangerous. LJ: Musicians get to travel to great places to spread their message, but unfortunately they also end up in some not so great cities. Have you ever had a city or situation where you were genuinely scared you were going to die? Zoog: Yup! There's been a few. My favorite was in Manchester, England. The city broke into a riot the night we played. The buildings on either side of us were on fire. My security personnel were very concerned for our safety - the only thing I was worried about was the audience getting home safely. LJ: Recently you released your video for "Sky High". Good or bad, what's the most memorable moment from shooting the video? Zoog: The basement club scene was a blast to shoot! It was gritty, dirty and the middle of summer. We later found out that they found a body in that basement years earlier… hence we referred to it as "the murder room".

LJ: If you could choose any song in history to have written yourself, what would it be? Zoog: Mozart's "Requiem", Beethoven's "Seventh Symphony", "Do I Do" - Stevie Wonder… or "Joy Inside My Tears". These songs remind me I have so much to learn. LJ: Three albums you'd want to be buried with? Zoog: Stevie Wonder Songs in the Key of Life, David Bowie Outside, Duran Duran Rio. LJ: What is the most bizarre thing that's ever happened at a gig? Ever had any stage nightmares? Zoog: Gear breaks down often… but you keep going. We had a show in Dallas and there was a serious electrical problem we were trying to avoid (one of the lights was sparking), but in doing so I accidentally pulled the entire stage and all the screens down… mid set. It was awesome. We just kept going! LJ: Twenty years from now, what is one thing you want to have become known for? Zoog: Constantly releasing quality material and encouraging others to do so. Always pushing the boundaries of sound design and the envelope of dark alternative music. LJ: Finally, is there any random facts, comments, or words of wisdom you'd like to leave with your fans?
